A Livestream announced that Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama manga getting a new anime movie adaptation which will open in Japan in 2021. Gintama manga's final book volume announced the film on August 2.

Sorachi's original manga, which began in 2004 and ended in June, has inspired seven television anime series and 367 total episodes. The latest series premiered in July 2018.
Netflix also streaming 2 seasons of Gintama anime series in India.
